MagazineWhat is it?
A relatively short news publication that is primarily written by journalists or professionals in a particular field of interest. Magazines are usually published on a weekly, monthly or semi-annual basis..They are usually bound together with staples or glued bindings. What do I cite? You will cite the individual article as well as information about the issue of the magazine as a whole. How is it organized? Magazines are usually organized themed sections (e.g. world news, movie reviews) and are paged consecutively throughout the publication. A table of contents helps identify the location and articles. Cite it as a magazine. |
NewspaperWhat is it?
A short news publication that is primarily written by journalists that provides reporting and/or analysis of news events or feature articles about current topics. Newspapers are usually published on a daily, or sometimes weekly / monthly, basis.The pages are not usually bound together and are usually printed on low quality newsprint. What do I cite? You will cite information about the article itself as well as information about the issue of the newspaper as a whole. How is it organized? Newspapers are made up of unbound sections that are arranged by letters or numbers. For example, the national news may be section A and and the story may be on page 15 of that section (i.e. section A15). Look for titles in larger bold letters on the top of each section's front page. Cite it as an newspaper. |
